This policy outlines the expectations and responsibilities for Strawberry Paws when providing care within the Client’s home. Our goal is to keep your pet comfortable in their own environment while ensuring your property remains secure.
1. Home Access and Security
- Securing the Property: Strawberry Paws will ensure that all doors and windows are locked, and alarms are set upon departure, as per the Client’s specific instructions.
- Unauthorised Persons: For safety and insurance reasons, Strawberry Paws will not allow any other person into the Client’s home during the service period.
- Shared Access: If other people (cleaners, gardeners, or family members) have access to the home during the service period, Strawberry Paws cannot be held liable for any breach of security or loss of property. We ask that you notify us in advance if anyone else is authorised to enter.
2. Care of the Property
- Cleanliness: We promise to leave your home in the same condition we found it. We will clean up any pet-related “accidents” using the cleaning products provided by the Client.
- Waste Disposal: All pet waste will be disposed of hygienically in the outdoor bins provided.
- Plants and Post: As part of our service, we are happy to water a reasonable number of indoor plants and bring in the post at no extra charge.
3. Client Responsibilities
To provide the best care, the Client agrees to:
- Supplies: Ensure there is an ample supply of food, litter, treats, and any necessary medications for the duration of the service.
- Utilities: Ensure that heating, water, and electricity are in good working order.
- Cleaning Materials: Provide accessible cleaning supplies (paper towels, disinfectant, bin bags) for pet-related messes.
4. Emergencies and Repairs
- Home Emergencies: In the event of a household emergency (e.g., a burst pipe or power failure), Strawberry Paws will contact the Client or the Emergency Contact immediately.
- Emergency Repairs: If the Client cannot be reached and a repair is essential to protect the pet or the property, the Client authorises Strawberry Paws to contact a professional (e.g., a plumber or locksmith). All costs incurred will be the responsibility of the Client.
5. Liability and Insurance
- Home Damage: Strawberry Paws is fully insured for public liability; however, we cannot be held liable for damage to the home caused by the pet (e.g., scratched doors, chewed furniture, or soiled carpets) or for any pre-existing faults with the property.
- Keys: Our handling of property keys is governed by our Key Holding & Security Policy.
6. Arrival and Departure
- Time Windows: While we strive to arrive at a specific time, please allow a 30-minute window for home visits to account for local traffic in the Leeds area.
- Return of Owner: We ask that you send a quick text to let us know when you have returned home safely from your travels, so we know the pet is back under your care.
